Before Xue Shen and Hongbo Zhao burst onto the international figure skating scene, pairs skating was almost nonexistent in their homeland of China. By placing fifth at the 1998 Nagano Olympics, this young, dynamic pairs team has established itself as major contenders at this year's World Championships and the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics.
